12-13-2016

The Leapfrog Group named Pampa Regional Medical Center to its annual list of Top Hospitals. This coveted and respected recognition showcases Pampa Regional's dedication to providing the safest, highest quality health care for patients and all members of the community.

"We are humbled to receive this honor, and I am very proud of our clinicians and employees whose commitment to quality and safety are second to none," said Twilla Thomas, Administrator/Chief Nursing Officer of Pampa Regional.

Pampa Regional Medical Center received a Top Rural Hospital distinction, and was one of 115 Top Hospitals recognized across the country. The list includes:

  • 9 Top Children's Hospitals
  • 56 Top General Hospitals
  • 21 Top Rural Hospitals
  • 29 Top Teaching Hospitals

Leapfrog also honored Pampa Regional this fall with an "A" grade in its bi-annual Hospital Safety Score program.

"There is tremendous variation in the level of quality that hospitals provide. Leapfrog provides a very valuable tool for the public to help them choose the right doctor and hospital for their care," said Sergio Muniz, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Pampa Regional Medical Center. "We are proud to stand out as one of the top hospitals, and this is a true testament to our Pampa Regional physicians and employees who are committed to providing excellent care, every day."

The selection of Top Hospitals is based on the results of the 2016 Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including infection rates, maternity care, and a hospital's ability to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year's Top Hospital Methodology.

"Being acknowledged as a Top Hospital is an incredible feat achieved by less than three percent of hospitals nationwide," said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. "With this honor, Pampa Regional has established its commitment to safer and higher quality care. Providing this level of care to patients in the Texas Panhandle requires motivation and drive from every team member. I congratulate the board, staff and clinicians, whose efforts made this honor possible."
